Pradhan to lead industry delegation to Mexico, Colombia

To bolster energy ties with Americas, Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is leading a high level delegation of industry CEOs to Mexico and Colombia from May 18 to 22.

"This delegation will meet up with their counterparts in Mexico's and Colombia's energy industry and discuss important areas of cooperation which include joint development offshore and onshore oil and gas fields, partner in hydrocarbon engineering services and understand the country's fiscal regime to explore opportunities of business partnership among the countries," a press statement by FICCI, which is leading the industry delegation, said.

While the public sector firms will represented by ONGC Videsh Managing Director N K Verma and Indian Oil Corp (IOC) Chairman B Ashok, Reliance Industries President Atul Laul, Mayank Ashar of Cairn India and Adani Gas CEO Rajeev Sharma will represent private sector in the 15-member delgation.
 

"The Minister is also expected to pay a visit to the energy ministers of Mexico & Colombia and discuss about key enabling policies which would facilitate an increased energy trade," the statement said.

With India importing 78 per cent of its crude oil from overseas, Americas prolific oil and gas reserves, Mexican and Colombian energy sector is likely to be a significant partner in the near future.

"The delegation is also expected to discuss avenues of cooperation in unconventional oil and gas, which both the geographies are looking to exploit to address their growing energy needs," it said.
