He said there was no policy paralysis and the word should be tweaked around to say that there was a need for policy reinvention.
"We have been talking about policy paralysis in the country. I think we as Indians should stop using the word policy paralysis. It is not a right phrase to use for the country," he said at annual convention of Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA).
Admitting that "there are certain issues", he said, India as a democracy knows how to set its house in order.
Patel said, "The way and the methodology with which we are going about it (addressing issues), I think it is certainly something which is not a happy state for all of us."
He said those who are working for the country need to be looked at in a right perspective and there has to be a mutual respect for each other.
"This entire mudslinging and bashing of each other is only going to ruin institutions and will make decision-making more difficult in the country," he said.

The minister said it is easy to criticise each other as political parties or as people in the government or outside.
The Indian industry has been saying that there is policy paralysis in the government, delaying reforms process including implementation of FDI in multi-brand retail.
Also, it has been asking the government to quickly address these reforms to restore growth to a reasonable level.
As per the latest government data, India's economy grew by just 5.5 per cent in the April-June quarter this fiscal due to poor performance of manufacturing, mining and farm sectors.
