Senior NCP leader Praful Patel today sought to make light of speculation on social media about his "joining" BJP.

"I will talk about my decisions. My decisions are not communicated through WhatsApp," Patel told reporters in his native district Gondia, when asked about talk on WhatsApp groups that he is on his way to join BJP.

"It is not alright that I should comment on discussions on WhatsApp," the former Civil Aviation minister said.

"I am a responsible person. I will announce my decisions in my own way, whatever the decisions may be," Patel said.

Patel's remarks come amid reports that senior NCP leader from Navi Mumbai Ganesh Naik may quit the party to join either BJP or Shiv Sena.

On Wednesday, state NCP president Sunil Tatkare entrusted organisational responsibility of Thane and Palghar districts to MLA Jitendra Awhad.

"Responsibility of Thane and Palghar districts has been given to Awhad as it was found that in the recent past Naik was not active," NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik had said.
