Praharis enlisted for Outer Delhi district

A thousand chowkidars, security guards and police mitras were today enlisted to help improve policing in the Outer Delhi district.

The 'praharis' (sentinels) were provided kits including caps, batons, whistles, reflective jackets, torches and shoes at a function attended by Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik.

The praharis were also rewarded for their performance during the integration function and administered oath by DCP (outer) Rishi Pal.

"The Prahari scheme has been initiated in the outer district with the spirit and understanding the importance of functions perform by chowkidars, security guards in policing in its vast territorial jurisdiction," Rishi Pal said.

The enlisted sentinels are being given training in various aspects of area surveillance, frisking, keeping watch on doubtful elements for effective and visible service delivery, said the officer.
