Kaul carded a two-under-70 that took his total to two-under-116. Pawan Verma of Delhi shot an even-par-72 to be placed second at one-under-117.
The cut was declared at nine-over-127. Forty professionals made the cut.
Pranav Kaul (46-70), playing in his rookie season on the PGTI, got off to a forgettable start as he bogeyed the first hole. He then drove the par-4 green on the eighth to set up his first birdie of the day.
The Delhi-based professional made a 15-feet birdie putt on the ninth that took him to one-under for the day. Pranav dropped a stroke on the 10th but picked up birdies with good chip-putts on the 12th and 17th.
Pranav said, "I took advantage of the short par-4s today. My short-game was excellent and I also drove it well. Besides the 15-feet putt for birdie on the ninth, I also made a crucial 30-feet putt to save par on the sixth. I'll now need to capitalise on my lead in order to make an impact in the final round."
Pawan Verma (45-72) of Delhi occupies the second place after round two. He made six birdies, three bogeys and a triple bogey in his second round of even-par-72.
Local boy Ramesh Kumar (45-73) is currently in third place at even-par-118 while Abhinav Lohan is a stroke behind in joint fourth place along with Wasim Khan and Mohd Yamin of Delhi.
