Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today asked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to make her stand clear on the triple talaq issue.

West Bengal is second after Uttar Pradesh in the number of triple talaq cases, he said.

"BJP's stand is clear. We are against triple talaq. Mamataji what's your stand?" Prasad asked during a meeting with party workers here.

The senior BJP leader said the Trinamool Congress government had described the Ramnavami and Hanuman Jayanti processions as armed rallies. "But when a particular community organised an armed rally, they (state government) took no action."

Prasad condemned the bounty announced by BJP youth wing leader Yogesh Varshney on the head of Mamata Banerjee.

On BJP's performance at the Kanthi Dakshin Assembly bypoll, which was won by the Trinamool Congress candidate, he said though the party had lost the by-election its vote share had gone up considerably.

"Compared to 8 per cent in the 2016 assembly poll, this time it got 31 per cent of the votes in the seat and emerged second," he said.
