Prasad inaugurates three-day-long job fair at Patna

A three-day-long Rozgar Mela (job fair) organized by the National Skill Development Corporation was inaugurated here on Tuesday by Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.

More than 60 leading companies from diverse sectors, including Bajaj, SBI Life, Lakme etc. are taking part in the Mela which was inaugurated in presence of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.

Addressing a function organized on the occasion, Prasad said "12 million people across the country have been given of Rs 7 lakh crore for self-employment after being adequately skilled. The government has also signed an agreement with Japan as part of which three lakh skilled youths will get employment in the far eastern country".

 

The Union minister, who holds portfolios like Law and Justice and Electronics and Information also claimed that a whole range of items ranging from sanitary napkins to LED bulbs were being produced by young men and women who have benefitted from skill development programmes.

"Students with wide range of educational qualifications, from Class VIII to Diplomas, will get opportunities at the fair where counselling sessions for candidates and parents are also being organized to help the youths to take the best possible decisions about their careers", the Corporation's State Head Jaikant Singh was quoted as saying in a release.
