Prasar Bharati chairman A Surya Prakash today urged social media users to resort to "self moderation" and suggested that the users should never forward anything without checking the credentials of the same.
He emphasized that new media is a great tool for development, but we should try to shun vulgarity on social media, according to a statement issued here.

Charting the history behind the establishment of India's public broadcaster - Prasar Bharati and quoting examples of various campaigns like Polio, Swachh Bharat, Jan Dhan Yojna, Prakash also said that "we should never run down the importance of a public service broadcaster," a statement released by IIMC said.
