Pratyusha not adverse to be a BJD candidate in K'mal bypolls

Amid speculations on her candidature as a BJD nominee in the October 15 by-elections to Odisha's Kandhamal Lok Sabha seat, Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh today said she would like to serve the people given an opportunity.

"Given an opportunity, I will like to serve the people of Kandhamal. Whatever decision Chief Minister Naveen Patnaikji takes, I will respect it," Pratyusha, widow of late Kandhamal MP Hemendra Chandra Singh, told reporters here after meeting the ruling BJD president.

Pratyusha, a member of a royal family in Nepal, was married to Hemendra Chandra Singh, the second son of Late Maharaja B K Singh and Maharani Lokrajaya of the erstwhile Nayagarh royal family, and was likely to be BJD candidate in the ensuing polls necessitated due to the untimely demise of her husband on September 5.
 

Meanwhile, neither the BJP nor the Congress have selected their candidates for the by-elections as yet.

While the name of former Kalahandi MP Bhakta Charan Das was making rounds in the Congress circle, BJP has been contemplating with several names.
