Praveen Davar appointed as NCM member

Former AICC Secretary Praveen Davar has been made a member of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM).

The NCM has seven members, including the chairman and one vice-chairman. As per the NCM Act, six members, including the chairman, must belong to the minority community. One slot is reserved for the majority community.

"Praveen Davar has been appointed a member in National Commission for Minorities with immediate effect for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge," said a notification issued by the central government on Thursday.

Davar has been working in the Congress party since 1980. He was AICC Secretary looking after its Ex-Servicemen Dept for 14 years.
