The pre-winter season today began in Rajasthan with sporadic rains and mercury plummeting sharply following a western disturbance (WD) which hit the state last night, officials said.

Mercury fell by one to four degrees Celsius during night at most places causing pre-winter weather conditions, a MeT official said today.

Little rains occurred in Pilani last night, and rainfall was occurring on Alwar-Jaipur highway side cities due to ongoing western disturbance and moisture arrival from Arabian Sea.

Sriganganagar recorded a minimum temperature of 13.7 degree Celsius last night followed by Bikaner and Jaisalmer 17 each, Udaipur 19, Barmer 19.6, and Churu 19.8 degree Celsius.

Jaipur's night temperature plummeted by two degree Celsius and recorded at 20 degree Celsius. Clouds and mist have overcast the sky of Pink City since forenoon by reducing the sun shine.

Besides WD, northerly winds have also touched Rajasthan's border district and going to cause mercury to fall further in next couple of days, a forecast said.

The day temperature was ranging between 30 and 35 degree Celsius at most places in the state.
