Precious idols stolen from temple in Rajasthan

The four accused, who had come to the temple on November 26, gave sedatives to the priests rendering them unconscious for four days, before replacing the idols with fake ones, SHO Jhalrapatan Mahiveer Singh Shakwat said.

The priests were admitted to a district hospital and the incident came to light yesterday when they regained consciousness, Shakwat said.

A case of theft was lodged against the four unidentified persons, he said, adding, the two idols had been stolen in 1962 but recovered later.
