Noted Punjabi actress Preeti Sapru said that she felt honoured to receive an award from President Pranab Mukherjee at a function celebrating the Centenary of Indian Cinema.
The event was organised by the Tamil Nadu Government and South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC).
"It's a great honour, especially for the Punjabi language cinema, to receive an award from the country's President at a function (in Chennai yesterday) where a galaxy of stalwarts including Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Mammooty, Rajnikanth, Kamla Hassan, Aparna Sen and actors, directors and producers from the broad spectrum of Indian cinema from various languages were honoured," Sapru told PTI.

"I interacted with a lot of film stars from the south and they were happy to note that Punjabi cinema has hit gold and our films are doing well at the box office now," she said.
Sapru has a number of Punjabi hit films to her credit including "Nimmo" and "Yaari Jat Di and Qurbani Jat Di" among others.
Stalwarts of Indian cinema were honoured by the President at the concluding day of four-day celebrations to mark the centenary of Indian cinema in Chennai yesterday.
