Pregnant woman dies of Swine Flu

A 27-year old pregnant woman today died of swine flu at a private hospital here, becoming the first victim of the disease in the country this year, officials said.

The woman, who was tested positive for H1N1 virus succumbed to the disease this morning after undergoing treatment for nearly a week, District Nodal officer S Devi told PTI.

The victim was hospitalised on January 17 with high fever and body pain following which she underwent tests for swine flu and the samples were sent to a Mumbai lab, which confirmed the infection.

Following this, she was shifted to an isolated ward, where she died.
 

This is the first Swine flu death in 2014, Devi said.
