Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, who has filed a molestation case against her ex-boyfriend and industrialist Ness Wadia, today met Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria and sought permission to fly abroad, which was immediately granted.
During the meeting, the 39-year-old actress also gave some more details about the incident of alleged molestation at the Wankhede Stadium on May 30.
"Preity sought our permission to fly abroad as she has some prior commitments. She has been granted permission. She is going out of the country for a brief period," said Maria.
"In her application, Preity gave more details about the incident and listed names of more witnesses," he said.
Specifically asked when Wadia will be summoned, Maria said, "We will examine all the witnesses first and then decide the next course of action."
Police sources said among the witnesses she listed today include at least six foreigners, who were present at the time of the incident.
Preity was accompanied by her mother for the meeting with the IPS officer that lasted for nearly an hour.
On June 12, Preity had accused Wadia of molesting, abusing and threatening her during an IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings.
Marine Drive Police had registered an FIR against Wadia under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
A day after filing the FIR, she had left for the US and police had to call her back to India to record her statement. After her arrival, her detailed statement was recorded on June 24 at BCCI office in Wankhede.
Meanwhile, two foreigners, who were present in the Garware pavilion, sent their statements through emails.
Crime Branch, on the other hand, is probing the threat calls and a text message received by two personal secretaries of Wadia Group on June 16 from a man claiming to be the fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari. The caller warned that their "business will be in trouble" if the actress was harassed.
