A meeting of the district levelcore committee on Bru repatriation at Mizoram-Tripura border's Mamit district today decided to conduct preliminary survey before resumption of repatriation of the refugees from relief camps in North Tripura district, an official statement said.
The meeting, chaired by Mamit district deputy commissioner V Lalremthanga, decided that five officials would be sent to two relief camps - Naisingpara and Asapara - where they would conduct the survey between May 13 and 17.
The officials would undertake identification of bonafide residents of Mizoram, who were willing to return to the state during the self repatriation process, scheduled to commence during the last part of May.
It was also decided that the next meeting of the district level core committee be convened on May 20 to deliberate on the survey reports and that all the council leaders of those villages, where the refugees were proposed to be resettled, be invited in the next meeting.
