Prema urges farmers to continue agriculture in rice bowl

Terming Kitpi area as the rice bowl of Tawang district, Tourism, Art & Culture Minister Pema Khandu has appealed the villagers not to forsake agriculture but to go for cash crop cultivation by adopting modern methods of agriculture.

The minister was addressing a developmental meeting after inaugurating the circle office and a secondary school at Kitpi yesterday, an official communique informed here today.

Insisting on preservation and promotion of rich culture and tradition, he said, "Every one of us both old and young should learn Bhoti language in order to understand, preserve and promote our culture and heritage better".

He stressed the need for special Bhoti language class all in the line of adult education programme. He also informed the huge gathering that His Holiness Dalai Lama has accepted to visit Tawang, West Kameng & other parts of the state in 2015.
 

Khandu also congratulated the villagers for having a full-fledged circle office with regular CO and staff to attend to their works. He stressed on education of the younger generation and exhorted the villagers to be more responsible parents in imparting value-based education to the coming generation.
