Preparations are on to hang two men on death row for raping and murdering a teenage girl in 2001, as their mercy petitions were rejected by President Pranab Mukherjee.
Shivu Munishetti and Jadeswamy Rangashettti were sentenced to death in 2005 for their crime against an 18-year-old girl at Bhadranhalli of Chamarajnagar district by the district and Sessions court, which was upheld by the High Court and Supreme Court.
After the Apex Court confirmed the death sentence in 2007, the two had sought Presidential mercy but it was rejected on August 13, 2013.
