Prepare international level players in Rajasthan: Raje

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today said infrastructure facilities for sports should be developed in rural and urban areas to help prepare national and international level sportsmen in the state.

Raje, who was reviewing the progress of budget announcements of Youth Affairs and Sports department at CMO here, said sports academies should be prepared for the major sports in the state.

The chief minister said focus should be on promoting shooting, archery, horse riding, basketball, volleyball and hockey. Specialist coaches should be engaged to provide training in these sports, she added.

Raje also suggested that talent search camps should be organised at divisional headquarter level so that best talent could be encouraged and trained to participate at national and international level.
 

She further said there should be a period for sports in schools to promote students to participate in various games and added that sports medicine and nutrition facilities could also be developed.

The Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Gajendra Singh Khimvsar informed the chief minister about the basic infrastructure facilities being set up in the state.

Principal Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports J C Mahanti gave a presentation about the implementation of budget announcements and their progress.

Principal Secretary Finance P S Mehra, Secretary Planning Akhil Arora and other officials were also present on the occasion.
