Punjab Vigilance Bureau sleuths along with road construction engineers today conducted a surprise check of Mohali's airport road and found that prescribed material had allegedly not used in its construction.
On the basis of complaints regarding non-worthiness of the recently constructed road, the Vigilance Bureau's Chief Director B K Uppal along with senior PWD and GMADA engineers and Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) experts inspected it, a spokesman said.
They excavated the road at two points and prima facie it has been found that the 200-feet thoroughfare was not designed properly and sub-standard material was used, he said.

Uppal said that the GMADA had already received a sampling report from the CRRI.
Experts from the CRRI have been asked to collect some more samples from the locations selected by the technical teams of vigilance bureau, PWD (B&R) and GMADA, and submit a report, the bureau's chief director said,
Uppal said that on the basis of CRRI reports further action would be initiated against the guilty engineers and the contractor.
