A student of Presidency University today submitted a deputation to the authorities demanding vending machines for sanitary napkin across the campus evoking support from a group of students.

"In my deputation I have demanded that instead of only one machine in the girls' common room, there should be more sanitary napkin vending machines across the campus and the product should be of good quality and freely available," Rimjhim Sinha, the student, told reporters at the campus.

Sinha, who submitted her demand in writing to the Dean of students was joined by many others, several of them, girls.

Stating that the pads available from the sole vending machine at a price of Rs 10, caused irritation to the skin, she demanded the napkins should be made available free.

Another student Oindrila Basak said "we are not begging for anything. This is the basic right for a woman."

University authorities said the existing vending machine is working fine, but they will consider the demands.
