Students of the Presidency University took out a march protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and tried to demonstrate outside the BJP's state headquarters but were stopped midway.

The students planned a march from the varsity's campus in College Street to the BJP's office in Murlidhar Sen Lane, a few hundred metres away.

They also arranged for copies of the Constitution to be distributed among the BJP workers present there.

However, the students were stopped midway by the police who put up barricades.

The protestors then staged a sit-in at the spot and shouted slogans against the BJP.
