President Pranab Mukherjee has conveyed condolences over loss of lives due to stampede during the Dussehra festival celebrations at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
In his message to Bihar Governor D Y Patil, the President said, "I am saddened to learn about the accident in which a number of persons have lost their lives and some were injured during the stampede in Dussehra celebrations."
He asked the state government and other agencies to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families, who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical facilities to the injured.
As many as 33 people were killed and 29 injured in the stampede outside Gandhi Maidan in Patna after Dussehra celebrations last night. Among those killed, 21 were women, 10 minors including seven girls and two men.
