"I have come here to pay homage," the President said at the Netaji Bhavan.
Stating that Netaji was a constant source of inspiration, Mukherjee said and that as the president of Indian National Congress Netaji had called for abolition of poverty.
"He also visualised that India can be model for countries liberated from colonial rule," Mukherjee said.
President said he had read the book on Netaji written by his grandnephew Sugata Bose and had given it to Congress president Sonia Gandhi to read.
Another copy which he had would be kept at the Rastrapati Bhavan library, he said.
