President, PM congratulates Team India for win over WI

President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated the Indian cricket team for their four-wicket win over the West Indies in the ongoing World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

In his congratulatory message, the President wished Mahendra Singh Dhoni's men success for their upcoming matches in the game's show-piece event.

"Congrats Team India for victory against West Indies. Good wishes for success in future matches," Mukherjee tweeted.

Prime Minister Modi also tweeted: "Congratulations to the Cricket Team for the win against West Indies. The Men in Blue seem to be having a great tournament!"

Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also congratulated the Men in Blue via twitter.

"Bowlers bowled brilliantly to restrict WI to a score of 182. Congrats to @MSDhoni for brilliantly steering the team to victory," he wrote in his twitter page.

"Many Congratulations to team #India for adding colors in the life of a billion Indians on the occasion of Holi."

Defending champions India today survived a scare before defeating a spirited the West Indies by four wickets in a group league encounter to romp into the quarter-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup in Perth.

Chasing a modest target of 183, India's top-order struggled due to poor shot selection before skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's composed unbeaten innings of 45 helped them reach the target in 39.1 overs and ensure their fourth consecutive win in the tournament.
