President returns home after 3-day visit to Mauritius

President Pranab Mukherjee tonight returned here from Mauritius after a three-day state visit during which he attended that country's national day celebrations as chief guest.

He had separate meetings with Mauritius President Rajkeswur Purryag and Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and discussed bilateral, regional and global issues.

"I had wide ranging and useful exchange of views with the leadership of Mauritius on issues of bilateral, regional and global interest in a very friendly atmosphere," he told reporters accompanying him.

Mukherjee also held meetings with all cabinet ministers and had useful exchanges with the speaker of National Assembly, leader of opposition and chief justice of the Supreme Court of Mauritius.
 

Three MoUs were signed on cooperation in areas of tourism, health and medicine, senior citizens and persons with disabilities to the benefit of both the countries.

Minister of State for Home R P N Singh and MPs Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Satyabrata Chaturvedi and Kusum Rai accompanied him.
