President Pranab Mukherjee would inaugurate a new military station in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on October 8.
It is being developed on an area of 252 acres, as a model military station with the state-of-the-art training and administrative facilities integrated with the existing natural features.
The infrastructure development of the station will go on till 2018, after which it would have occupancy of over 8,000 troops including their families, an official release said today.

The military station is being set up at 25 km away from Berhampore town and its development as a military base is expected to play a significant role in the socio-economic growth of the area.

IAF sources later said that there was a "minor technical" snag and the plane had to return as per standard operation procedure.
Sources said there was a problem with one of the filters.
They added that alternative plane had been arranged but the technical snag has been rectified and the same aircraft will now fly him to Chennai.
