Members of various press unions and clubs today demanded that the Kerala government take action against two policemen from the state who allegedly abused a reporter on assignment and also people from this state.

About 50 members of the unions and clubs, under the aegis of Federation of All Press Unions and Clubs, staged a demonstration here today in protest against the alleged police misbeaviour.

The incident reportedly occured on March 29 when a Tamil magazine reporter was chased away by two policemen in civil dress when he had gone to take snaps of check dams being constructed by the Kerala government across Bhavani river.

The Federation, in a release, alleged that the policemen used foul language against him, chased him away from the site and also abused Tamils in the process.
