President Pranab Mukherjee today condoled the passing away of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil saying that the nation has lost a leader who worked for the grassroots of society.
In a condolence message to his wife, Suman R R Patil, the President said, "I am saddened to learn about the passing away of R R Patil.
"Patil served the state of Maharashtra as Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister and member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. His immense contribution to the welfare of the state of Maharashtra will always be remembered. In his death, the nation has lost a leader who was always in touch with the grassroots of society".
"I pray to the Almighty to give your family and you the strength and courage to bear this irreparable loss. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and convey the same to all members of your family", said Mukherjee.
