Prez offers condolences to families of HP bus mishap & Assam

President Pranab Mukherjee today condoled the loss of lives in Himachal Pradesh bus accident and due to floods in some areas of Meghalaya and Assam.

In a message to Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmila Singh, the President said, "I am deeply saddened to learn about the incident today in which a number of persons lost their lives and some were injured, when a bus fell into Bhakra Nangal Dam's Gobind Sagar Reservoir in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh.

He expressed hope that the state government and other authorities will provide all possible aid to the bereaved families, who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical assistance to the injured.
 

In a separate condolence to Meghalaya and Assam Governors K K Paul and J B Patnaik, respectively, the President said "I am deeply saddened to learn about the heavy rains leading to floods and landslides in certain areas of the State, which have caused loss of lives, injuries and damage to property.

"I understand rescue and relief operations are currently underway," he said.
