Patil, possibly on her last foreign tour before she retires on July 25, will visit Seychelles on April 30 and May 1 and would be in South Africa from May 1 to 7. India's ties with South Africa are enjoined by a strategic partnership.
This is the second Presidential visit to Seychelles, the stategically located Indian Ocean island, after that of President R Venkararaman way back in 1989.
In Seychelles, the President will have a meeting with President James Alix Michel during which various aspects of bilateral relations and regional and international issues are expected to be discussed.
A highlight of her Seychelles visit is that the President will address Special Session of the National Assembly.
The President's visit to South Africa is one more indication of growing ties with South Africa. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was in the African country in October last year for the IBSA Summit.
President Jacob Zuma of South Africa was in New Delhi last month for the BRICS Summit and had paid a state visit to India in June 2010 in what was his first bilateral visit to any Asian country.
