Prez, PM to address VCs of central varsities tomorrow

The last such conference was convened in 2003 by the then President APJ Abdul Kalam.

Vice chancellors of 40 Central Universities are likely to participate in the conference.

The discussions would be held on steps to improve the quality of education and faculty in central universities and measures needed to extend the reach of education through extension work in contiguous areas.

The conference will also focus on use of national knowledge network effectively in the central universities and suggestions to improve the visitor-university interface within the existing statutory framework of each Central University.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju would also address the VCs.
