Prez, VP, PM extend Eid greetings

"On the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha, I extend my greetings and best wishes to all my fellow citizens, especially to my Muslim brothers and sisters. The festival epitomises the noble values of sacrifice, trust and forgiveness," the President said in his message.

Let us remind ourselves of the spirit of sacrifice in the cause of goodness that alone can lead to peace and harmony, he said. "May this unique festival inspire us to sacrifice our selfish interests in the larger interest of the country as a whole."

Wishing the countrymen, Vice-President Hamid Ansari said the festival reminds us of the cherished human values of compassion, sharing and sacrifice.

 

He asked the citizen to firmly resolve to build a peaceful, harmonious, fraternal and progressive society.

In his message, Prime Minister Manohan Singh said Eid-ul-Zuha is a festival celebrating the spirit of submission to the will of God.

"The festival reminds us of the importance of charity and sacrifice. On this occasion we should reaffirm our resolve to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. May Eid-ul-Zuha this year usher in happiness and prosperity for all," Singh said.
