Prices of turmeric, jeera dip on subdued demand

Turmeric and jeera prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on easing demand from retailers and stockists at higher levels amid sufficient stocks position.

Turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 9,000-12,800 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also moved down by Rs 100 each to settle at Rs 17,400-17,600 and Rs 19,900-20,400 per quintal.

Marketmen said sluggish demand from retailers and stockists at higher levels against sufficient stocks, mainly pulled down turmeric and jeera prices.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 175-240, black pepper (per kg) 730-860, betel-nut (kg) 230-280, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,330-1,340 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,380-1,600.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 600-770, cardamom (colour robin) 600-610, cardamom bold 630-640, cardamom extra (bold) 725-740 and cloves 550-665.
