The teachers who are on foot march from Mewat to Chandigarh against the Haryana government's transfer policy for teachers, today reached Rohtak and were on way to the chief minister's local residence at Baapu Park for holding the demonstration when they were stopped by police.

The agitated teachers under the banner of Haryana Prathmik Shikshak Sangh then squatted on the Highway and started shouting slogans against the government leading to traffic snarl for over half-an-hour.

Senior police and administrative officers rushed to the spot and persuaded the protesting teachers to clear the national highway.

The teachers are on foot march in support of their demand to frame a policy of inter-district transfer of primary teachers from Mewat to other districts in the state.

"The government is adopting indifferent attitude with primary teachers posted at Mewat as it has not included these teachers in its transfer policy," said a teacher.

The march would conclude in Chandigarh after holding a massive demonstration outside official residence of the Chief Minister.
