Singer Prince has signed a landmark record deal with Warner Bros.
The singer's contract is expected to include an album of new material, and it comes 18 years after he left the label amid much controversy, reported Rolling Stone magazine.
He famously rushed the release of five albums in a span of two years beginning in 1994 in order to be free of his contractual obligation to Warner Bros. He also went by The Artist Formerly Known as Prince for a time as a form of protest.

Prince's new deal with Warner Bros will also see his influential album Purple Rain receive a deluxe edition in honour of its 30th anniversary this year.
He also regains control of his back catalogue of LPs that were originally recorded for Warner Bros.
"A brand-new studio album is on the way and both Warner Bros Records and Eye (sic) are quite pleased with the results of the negotiations and look forward to a fruitful working relationship," the 55-year-old musician said in a statement.
Prince has increased his public profile over the last several months, holding a string of concerts in London and making a special appearance at the Brit Awards.
He also took part in a one-night takeover of The Arsenio Hall Show earlier in the spring.
