Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said priority in the upcoming budget will be given to implementation of ongoing pro-poor schemes more effectively, besides laying emphasis on other developmental issues.

He made it clear that resource mobilisation was in tune with the target fixed for the current fiscal.

Siddaramaiah was speaking to reporters here during his brief halt at Jindal airport en route to Raichur district to address a meeting in connection with local body polls.

"We are yet to start preparations because of the ongoing elections. Once they are over, we will start by holding discussions with trade and business bodies, among others. After that will be able to come to know about the outline and the size of the proposed budget," he said.

"Priority would be to implement all the ongoing pro-poor schemes more effectively besides laying focus on other developmental issues, including irrigation, power, rural development, drinking water supply, and health," he added.
