The prison administration in Puducherry has unveiled the whole package of prison reforms on almost the same lines as in Tihar prisons, Lt Governor Kiran Bedi said today.
Bedi visited the Central Prison at Kalapet near here to celebrate the 71st Independence day with the inmates.
She said the reforms adopted in the prison here "are not to entertain the prisoners but to clean up their mind to make them disciplined and happy human beings."

The reforms which include practice of yoga, skill development, promotion or art and culture, education, agriculture and several other programmes are supported by NGOs.
She paid rich compliments to Inspector General of Prison Pankaj Jha and said "he has turned it around within a short time since he assumed charge as IG of prison."
The prison followed a regime of yoga in the mornings in which senior officials also participated, she said adding that classes were also held to promote the skill of prisoners, learning capability and counselling of rowdies.
Everyday evening prayers were also held in the prison, Bedi said.
