A prisoner today escaped from the clutches of the police while being produced in Muzaffarpur court in Bihar, an official said.
Muzaffarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ranjit Kumar Mishra said the incident happened while the prisoner, identified as one Sintu Singh was being produced in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's chamber.
"He pushed away the policemen escorting him and ran away. We have suspended a havildar in this connection and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprit," Mishra said.
The SSP said Singh was arrested by the police in connection with the theft of an oil tanker in 2013. The judicial process in the case was going on since then, and today was a court date with regard to it.
