Three policemen were detained and later suspended after a convict in a murder case escaped from the police custody from a hospital, police said today.
Saurabh Rathi, who was serving life sentence at Firozabad district jail, was admitted to Agra Medical College in a serious condition three days ago from where he escaped yesterday, SP Rakesh Singh said here.
He said that a case was lodged against three police personnel -- Prahlad, Ganga Prasad and Jagveer -- for dereliction of duty following which they were detained and later suspended.
Rathi was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2010 in connection with a murder case and since then has been lodged in Firozabad jail, Singh added.
