A section of prisoners in the central jail here are observing a relay fast protesting the alleged harassment of two undertrials, police said today.

The two undertrials were allegedly subjected to torture by some officials following which their relatives filed a petition in a local court.

Angered over this, some jail officials allegedly tortured them and threatened of dire consequences if the petition was not withdrawn.

Protesting this, a group of 20 prisoners began the strike yesterday and continued it today, police said.
