Private bus conductor shot dead in Rajasthan

A 32-year-old private bus conductor was allegedly shot dead under mysterious circumstances in Salumbar area of the district today, police said.

The incident occurred at around 4 am in Salumbar area today when Chunni Lal, working as a conductor with a private bus service was shot dead by unidentified assailants while he was clearing stones from the road, they said.

"Spotting some heavy stones on the road in Salumbar area, the driver of the bus stopped the vehicle and the conductor, Chunni Lal (32) got off the bus to clear the stones.

"As he turned back to the bus, someone opened fire at him leaving him dead on the spot," Deputy SP Salumbar, Abhay Singh said.
 

The bus carrying ten passengers at the time of the incident, was on its way to Ahmedabad from a village.

Expressing doubts regarding the incident, police claimed that nobody, including the 10 occupants of the bus, saw the alleged assailants.

"There were around ten passengers in the bus but no one entered the bus with the intention to rob them. It is a mysterious incident as no one present in the bus saw the firing," Singh said.

As per the initial investigation, the victim had no dispute with anyone, police said, adding, that the matter was being probed.
