Private member bill for registration of lobbyists in Lok Sabha

A bill proposing setting up an authority for registration of lobbyists in the country was among the 20 private members' bills which were introduced in the Lok Sabha today.

Introduced by BJD member Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, the 'Disclosure of Lobbying Activities Bill' seeks to regulate lobbying activities that are aimed at influencing legislative and executive decision-making.

It also aims at increasing transparency in governance.

Deo introduced two more bills -- to set targets for reduction of emission of green house gases and special financial assistance to Odhisa.

Jayadev Galla (TDP) introduced a bill for setting up a permanent bench of Supreme Court at Guntur.
 

Dharam Vir Gandhi (AAP) came up with a bill for codification of laws relating marriage among Sikhs.

Among other bills, Kirti Azad (BJP) introduced a bill for nationalisation of inter-state rivers. He also introduced a bill for establishment of a mechanism to prevent crime of genocide.

Rajesh Pandey came up with a bill for controlling population growth in the country. He also introduced the Bill for setting up a national commission for sugarcane farmers.
