Private varsity's VC, driver killed in road mishap in UP

Two persons, including Vice-Chancellor of a private university, were today killed and his wife injured when the SUV they were travelling in collided with a truck due to poor visibility owing to dense fog at Brijghat bridge here.

The incident occurred this morning when the Vice Chancellor of Monad University, Mian Jan (65) and his wife Ayesha were returning to Pilakhwa from Rampur in their SUV being driven by one Usman, Superintendent of Police Yogesh Kumar said.

Following the incident, all the three were rushed to Anand hospital in Meerut where Jan and Usman succumbed to their injuries while Ayesha's condition is stated to be serious, he said.
 

Poor visibility due to dense fog was stated as the reason behind the accident, Kumar said.

Hunt is on to nab the accused truck driver, the SP said.
