A group of pro-Telangana advocates were detained after they allegedly tried to obstruct a meeting organised by their counterparts from Samaikyandhra in support of united Andhra Pradesh at APNGO office here today, police said.

Mild tension prevailed at the Andhra Pradesh Non-Gazetted Officers (APNGOs) Association office this afternoon when a group of around ten pro-Telangana advocates "barged" into the office where the meeting was in progress and raised slogans in support of the separate state, they said.

The Telangana proponents even pushed aside some pro-Samaikyandhra advocates before police intervened and took them outside the office.

Assistant Commissioner of Police P Jaipal told PTI that around ten members, belonging to pro-Telangana advocates JAC, were detained in connection with the incident and are shifted to Abids Police Station.

He said the detainees will be subsequently released.

The Samaikyandhra advocates strongly condemned the incident and accused their pro-Telangana counterparts of resorting to high-handedness and misbehaviour.

However, the meeting continued after the brief squabble.
