Probationary RPS officer arrested for taking bribe

Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths today arrested a probationary officer of the Rajasthan Police Services (RPS) for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 1.10 lakh.

Posted in Govindgarh circle of the Jaipur Rural area, probationer Mahaveer Prasad Chotia had demanded bribe from a person for getting his name removed from a statement given by a woman in a dowry case.

Chotia had also assured no action will be taken against the person in a molestation case registered on the basis of the woman's complaint, ACB IG Sachin Mittal said.

The officer was arrested while accepting the money, ACB SP Narottam Verma said.
