Goa government will complete inquiry by March next year against officials of Goa Cricket Association (GCA) allegedly embroiled in major financial irregularities, state Legislative Assembly was told today.
The inquiry is in progress and would be summed up in March 2014, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told the House.
A charge sheet would be filed against the guilty, he said.
The Parrikar-led government, after it came to power in Goa last year, had formed a two-member committee to probe financial illegalities by GCA which was then headed by former state Finance Minister Dayanand Narvekar.
Parrikar said that the inquiry committee's report was "not up to the mark."
He alleged that the then GCA committee headed by Narvekar was involved in mismanagement of government funds.
The money sanctioned for state Information Technology department was diverted to the GCA, which is grossly illegal, he said.
Earlier, Independent legislator Rohan Khaunte raised the issue on the floor of the House and said that the GCA officials who siphoned off the money were left scot-free, bringing a bad name to cricket.
