A departmental probe has been ordered against three police personnel in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district after a BJP legislature levelled corruption allegations against them, police said on Monday.
Baldev constituency MLA Pooran Prakash had sat on a dharna at the Mahaban police station for over six hours on Sunday, alleging corruption and misbehaviour with the people by SHO Arvind Pal, and Sub-Inspectors Arvind Chauhan and Ajai Havana.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Babloo Kumar, SP (Rural) Aditya Kumar Shukla has been asked to probe the matter and submit a report within 24 hours. Action would be taken on the basis of the report.
The SSP, however, has warned policemen to desist from corrupt practices, failing which they would face punitive action.
On Sunday, District Magistrate Sarvagya Ram Mishra and the SSP assured agitators of action against erring policemen.
At the fag end of the dharna, the BJP MLA was rushed to a hospital after his blood pressure shot up. Prakash is fast returning to normal, a representative of the legislator said.
