The ECR headquarters at Hajipur directed the Samastipur DRM to probe the stampede incident and submit a report at the earliest, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Amitabh Prabhakar said today.
Ramkumari Devi (50) was killed and three others were injured in a stampede near the foot bridge at Samastipur railway station late last evening.
The commuters, many of them pilgrims were standing on the station to catch trains for their respective destinations after taking holy bath in the river Ganga at Simaria ghat in Begusarai district.
An estimated 2000 persons were gathered at the station and the stampede took place as several trains arrived at different platforms during the same time.
