"What is happening in this case is naked violation of relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code and the Supreme Court orders which barred investigators from leaking out information regarding interrogations and statements of witnesses," CPI(M) state Secretariat said in a release.
It claimed that a particular police official involved in the investigation had made as many as 7,557 calls and messages from his mobile phone to a single media person.
This went against the affidavit filed by the Kerala police in a related case pending before the Kerala High Court, it said.
On the back foot in the backdrop of the case, the CPI(M) had
yesterday accused the Congress-led UDF Government of "plotting" to frame its prominent leaders.
Several CPI(M) activists, including two district level leaders, have been taken into custody in connection with the investigation into the Chandrasekharan murder case.
A former CPI(M) activist from Onjiyam in Kozhikode district, Chandrasekharan left the party in 2008 and floated the Revolutionary Marxist Party. He was murdered on May 4.
